The caBIG program has been retired, and while this website is being maintained temporarily to prevent broken links and provide access to information on the subset of caBIG projects that were transitioned into the new NCIP program, it will be archived in the near future. Consumer Engagement in Research

With instant access to health information, consumers are playing a larger role in managing their overall health "portfolio." That means that consumers are a very valuable resource in understanding individual patient outcomes.

caBIG® capabilities continue to play an ever-growing role as we move from a 20th century biomedicine design—with study protocols designed in isolation of the patient—to a 21st century biomedicine model that connects participants to the research community via the web.
